Official Ministry Recognition
As a recognition for the discipline and training provided by the Air Cadet program, the Ministry of Education has authorized granting of credits to cadets. “BC students who are cadets are eligible to receive up to 12 credits towards their high-school graduation.”
These credits allow cadets to reduce the number of classes they must take in school, which in turn allows them to focus on their remaining studies and responsibilities within the squadron.
Credit Recognition Information
This page was created to provide cadets with the information they need to successfully obtain credit for their time as a cadet.
Per the Ministry of Education:
“To report a successful completion, the school must first examine credentials from the external institution. It is the student’s responsibility to present this credential as proof of successful course or program completion.“
Program Summary
The Ministry has authorized four (4) credits maximum for each of Grades 10, 11 and 12 as follows:

Program Requirements
The following details the required training for each external cadet course for air cadets:
- UXCA 10 (Cadet 10): Successfully complete Level Three or a three-week Basic Specialty Training Course. Participation in the Air Cadet International Exchange is considered to be an equivalent training experience;
- UXCA 11 (Cadet 11): Successfully complete Level Four or an Advanced Specialty Training Course; and
- UXCA 12 (Cadet 12): Successfully complete Level Five or an Advanced Specialty Training Course.
Qualifying “Basic Specialty Training Courses” include:
- Introduction to Leadership;
- Introduction to Instruction;
- Introduction to Aviation;
- Introduction to Aerospace;
- Introduction to Survival Training;
- Introduction to Physical Education and Recreational Training;
- Music (Levels 2 and 3); and
- Pipes and Drums (Levels 2 and 3).
Qualifying advanced specialty courses for air cadets include:
- Music (Levels 4 and 5);
- Pipes and Drums (Level 4s and 5);
- Introduction to Rifle Coaching;
- Senior Leaders;
- Survival Instructor;
- Athletic Instructor;
- Technical Training – Basic Electronics, Aircraft Servicing or Photography;
- Air Traffic Control;
- Glider Pilot;
- Power Pilot; and
- Staff Cadet.

Assistance Applying for Credit
All requests do take some time so DO NOT submit your request last minute.
Cadets must follow the process below to receive assistance in applying for credits:
- Read and ensure you understand the above limitations and criteria for obtaining credit,
- Contact your specific school’s administration and identify their specific requirements for requesting external credit, and
- Contact the 637 Admin team at 637air@cadets.gc.ca with a formal request for the information required from your school. Provide your name, rank, flight, and details your school provided.
Once a request for assistance is received the Admin team will review the request and do their best to assist you.
